Lips Silk is one of our top selling organic products. It's a lovely lip balm that contains organic cocoa and shea butters, with organic avocado oil and vitamin E to ensure your lips remain moisturised without feeling overly greasy. The moisture-rich natural ingredients will gradually sink into the lips, leaving them feeling soft and silky!
Lips Silk doesn't contain any fragrances or flavours - we think these just encourage you to lick your lips, which makes them sore and defeats the objective of a good lip balm. Instead, Lips Silk will coat the lips to give an immediate glossy feeling, but the balm slowly sinks in to provide long lasting moisture and a conditioning feeling that gently soothes away any soreness or chapped lips.
We now have 2 formulations for Lips Silk:
with organic Beeswax - is a firmer formulation, so doesn't melt so easily during hot weather
Our main variety of Lips Silk contains organic beeswax. The organic beeswax gives it a smooth firmer texture but it glides easily onto the lips. This is the original version of our lip balm (created in 2006), which was phased out several years ago when we switched to using jojoba wax so Lips Silk could also be enjoyed by our vegan customers. But over the years we've become unhappy with the texture of the jojoba wax formulation since it can become gritty during hot weather. So we're really pleased to reintroduce this formulation with pure organic beeswax. The beeswax version has a white label.
with Jojoba wax - vegan friendly, has a softer formulation so is great in the winter but needs to be stored in a cool place during hot weather
The second jojoba wax version of Lips Silk is still available for our vegan customers. As we've mentioned, this balm can change texture slightly if it's allowed to become too warm. It feels slightly heavier than the organic beeswax version, but is a great choice during the winter and for vegan customers. The jojoba wax version has a pink label.
Tubes - 4.5g plastic wind up lip balm tube.
During the Coronvirus pandemic we have run out of white lip balm tubes. We have switched to using silver plastic tubes which have a slightly stiffer wind up mechanism. With these tubes please make sure the balm is at room temperature and wind the mechanism slowly when the balm is new. We have received feedback from some customers that the base is spinning, without moving the balm. This was happening during the winter months, and if this happens it means the mechanism was forced and has broken inside. We test every tube before it is filled, so we'd advise customers to please be careful on the first twist. Do not force a tube that seems stiff, it simply means the balm is too cold. Warm it up a little, and try again since once it has started moving it will be fine. If you find that you have broken a tube, we'd advise you to gently heat the tube in the microwave (just a few seconds) and melt the balm so it can be poured into another container.
Aluminium Tins - we're pleased to introduce a new 9g size in an eco-friendly aluminium tin.
These tins are great for anyone who's trying to avoid using plastic containers. They have a screw top, and you'll need to dig in your fingernail to remove a little balm to apply to the lips. Remember these are made from metal so will heat up more quickly than the plastic tubes, so do not store anywhere that's too warm otherwise your balm will become very soft and could completely melt! Aluminium is completely recyclable.
