During this coronavirus pandemic. we're all being advised to wash our hands more frequently.
Please read our blog post on why washing with soap, is such a good idea.
Unfortunately we're hearing that this increase in hand washing (combined with the use of alcohol based hand santizers) is drying out many people's skin. Several of our customers have asked us for advice, because they have noticed the skin on their hands is dry or cracking with sore patches between their fingers. Sadly we did predict this might happen since some hand washes are quite harsh, and once the skin is dry it can be become sore and irritated quite easily.
So we recommend, that customers keep washing their hands with soap, but try to use soaps that are more conditioning (like a handmade goat's milk soap) since you'll clean the skin just as effectively without stripping away all of the skin's natural oils. Then, regularly apply hand cream or other emollients to try to stop the skin drying out.
We'd also recommend that you apply an oil based product each evening, choosing one that contains natural botanical ingredients (ideally natural cold pressed oils and botanical butters) rather than synthetic cosmetic ingredients (which are usually petroleum based) that will sit on the skin rather than sinking in to retain moisture and softness. From our product range, we'd recommend our organic balms. These are very concentrated products containing organic shea and cocoa butters with organic oils and added vitamin E, so you only need to apply a little. They feel quite oily and will need a few minutes to sink in, so we recommend applying them while you're watching TV or before you go to bed. Make sure you won't be handling anything for a few minutes, and you'll notice they sink into the skin after a few minutes and will leave it feeling noticeably softer afterwards.
So we're offering a multi-buy offer:
You'll save over 10% on the cost of the soap and organic balm, compared to when they're purchased separately.
Choose one of our lovely skin-kind handmade goat's milk soaps and one of our organic cocoa and shea butter balms on this page, and buy them together for a discounted price.
We hope they help you to stay safe, and also avoid having sore, dry hands!
