Handmade Fused Glass Bubble Soap Dishes
Our slatted fused glass soap dishes are proving to be very popular! They are now available in 3 sizes: mini, square and large.
We're pleased to introduce a new design - Bubble Soap Dishes!
Like our other glass soap dishes, we make these. They are all hand painted with a special glass enamel, which creates bubbles inside the glass as it is heated in the kiln. Every dish is completely unique since the bubbles form in different sizes and places inside the glass. We think bubble dishes are perfect for our soap, and look really unique in the bathroom. The images on this page cannot capture the depth of colour and the way the bubbles glisten and sparkle in bright light - but they are very pretty! Please see the images to get an idea of the colours available, but please remember that each dish will be different because it is handmade. We cannot guarantee the exact depth of colour or patterning on each dish, but the largest bubbles tend to be inside the blue and turquoise dishes.
We are starting this range with 4 colour options: turquoise, dark blue, pale pink and plum.
Mini soap dishes measure approximately 8cm x 5cm and have 4 slats of glass running across their surface. These are suitable for small mini bars of soap. We do not recommend these for full sized soaps since the weight of the bar (on just 4 slats of glass) tends to make the soap stick to the dish as it dries out.
Square soap dishes measure approximately 8cm x 8cm and each one has 6 glass slats running across the surface to support the soap bar between uses. This size will fit a fresh full sized bar of our soap, or 2 mini bars. The flat design means that the soap won't slide around or fall off the dish, and the slats will accommodate a full sized bar, but are close enough together to support the bar as it shrinks with use.
Large soap dishes measure approximately 11 x 8cm and have 8 glass slats. This size will fit 1 or 2 full sized bars, or 3-4 mini bars.
Each dish is approximately 1cm tall (including rubber feet).
Each bubble soap dish is made by hand. We carefully cut and paint the glass and before assembling each soap dish and firing it in the kiln for approximately 17 hours. The glass reaches around 800O
C while it is in the kiln which allows the glass to fuse together and become polished, before it is carefully cooled down again. Every soap dish will be completely unique since these bubble dishes are hand painted. As a courtesy we have added smaller rubber feet to the base of each dish. This lifts up the glass by about 3mm, to ensure the dish drains freely. Please be aware that it is very difficult to permanently stick anything to a glass surface, so over time these feet may loosen (particularly if the dish is left sitting in water). If the feet become loose, use a glue that's suitable for glass to reapply, or they may be removed if you prefer. We'd recommend that you periodically wipe your soap dish to remove any dried soap from the glass surface.
Our handmade fused glass soap dishes are wrapped in tissue paper, inside a cardboard box.
