Sadly we have discontinued this product now.

We found that customers were giving negative feedback because they were not prepared for the strong earthy aroma of organic chamomile.  We have stocked this product for several years and still think it's a good choice for very sensitive skin types, but we've regularly have had to dispose of unused product due to a lack of sales.  It is no long cost effective to continue like this, so we have withdrawn chamomile from our hydrolat range.  We'd suggest that customers consider using our organic rose or orange blossom hydrolats as natural alternatives.

Organic hydrolats are produced during the steam distillation of essential oils.  These natural flower waters contain water soluble plant extracts making them perfect as natural skin toners.  Our organic chamomile hydrolat has a quite earthy aroma which isn't very sweet (this is perfectly normal since hydrolats often do not smell like the flowers of the plant they are distilled from), and is very gentle and skin calming making it suitable for sensitive and troubled skin types.  It can be used as a soothing compress, on minor rashes (perhaps after touching stinging nettles), on minor scalds and skin irritations etc.

Please be aware that feedback from some customers is that they dislike the aroma of chamomile hydrolat.  We know we're getting this feedback because they aren't very familiar with true steam distilled hydrolats.  But we have seen very good results where customers have tried the chamomile hydrolat, since the water soluble parts of the chamomile plant do have soothing properties that suit sensitive and irritated skin.  So to prevent any disappointment, we'd suggest that you order this hydrolat if you're interested in the skin-calming properties and are prepared to tolerate the aroma.

We'd describe our current batch of organic chamomile hydrolat as having quite a strong musky herby aroma.

Our pure certified organic Chamomile hydrolat does not contain any alcohol or preservative, so we would recommend it is best stored in a cool, dark place ideally refridgerated.  Use within 6 months of opening.  Aqua and Anthemis Nobilis - and nothing else.

Our organic hydrolats are available in the following options:

- 50ml blue glass bottle with spray attachment that's great for taking on holiday or to the gym.

- 100ml refill in HDPE white/clear plastic bottle that's great for decanting into your glass bottles.

- 100ml blue glass bottle with a white/silver spray attachment - a lovely blue bottle that's a little cheaper than Miron but can still be re-used by unscrewing the cap and topping up with our refills.

- 100ml Miron violet glass bottle with spray attachment - in our opinion the best way to store hydrolats since the unique violet glass protects the delicate hydrolat from the damaging rays of the sun so will make your hydrolat last for longer even if it's not refrigerated.  Remember to keep this bottle (since it was more expensive) so you can keep topping it up with refills, and it's more environmentally friendly!

Perturbed by the unpleasant smell
Saturday, 24 October 2015  |

I've just started using the camomile hydrolat toner and am somewhat perturbed by the smell. Rather than a mild herby smell is has a strong smell of what I can only describe as decomposing organic matter.

Sorry you do not like the aroma, but thatís how chamomile hydrolat smells. It can be a little unexpected if youíre not familiar with hydrolats since they often do not smell like the flowers of the plant. So please be reassured thereís nothing wrong with the chamomile hydrolat and it is wonderful to use on troubled skin. After a while customers do get used to the smell, but we can understand that the rose and orange hydrolats do smell more pleasant. We have amended the product description to reflect your user experience.

Customer feedback from our old Natroma website

I tried the Rose toner and found it a little too astringent for my skin (although my mom is now using this without a problem!!). I am glad that I did not give up and, instead, tried the Chamomile version. After using the Rose Cleanser (which also suits my skin), this toner finshes the routine nicely. This will stay on my repeat purchase list!

European Deliveries

For 2018, Royal Mail have increased their European postage costs on the smallest airmail parcels, but they have reduced the costs for heavier parcels up to 2kg.  We have reduced our postage costs on parcels weighing 1-2kg, so European customers may find it is more cost effective to order less frequently with more items in a larger order.  (e.g. if we post out 2 soaps it typically costs £4.50, but 8 bars could be now be ordered for £8.75).
