Handmade Fused Glass Christmas Decorations
After years of trying to find pretty glass soap dishes for our handmade natural soaps ...we gave up and bought a kiln! This has allowed us to take up glass fusing and start to design our own soap dishes.
At this time of year, we also like to have a bit of fun and have produced a small range of pretty Christmas decorations:
Please see images to get an idea of the colours available, but remember that each decoration will be slightly different because it is handmade:
Reindeer (we call him Rudi) - a cute reindeer with antlers made out of wire with a raised red nose. Nylon hanger threaded with glass beads.
Glass dimensions including antlers: 10cm x 6cm (6mm deep including nose)
Moose (we call him Bruce) - a cute moose with cream coloured antlers and a raised black nose. Nylon hanger threaded with glass beads.
Glass dimensions including antlers: 9.5cm x 9cm (6mm deep including nose)
Chakra Christmas Tree - a pretty Christmas tree with each layer in a different colour that corresponds to the Chakra colours. Ribbon hanger.
Glass dimensions: 10cm x 6cm (3mm deep)
Robin - a cute little robin made with transparent glass, with a red breast and wing painted with glass enamels. Nylon hanger threaded with glass beads.
Glass dimensions: 7.5cm x 4.5cm (3mm deep)
Penguin - made with white and black glass with an orange beak and feet. Ribbon hanger.
Glass dimensions: 7cm x 7cm (3mm deep)
Decorations are sold singly, wrapped in tissue paper and packaged in a brown cardboard box decorated with a festive decoration.
Each glass decoration is made by hand using special art glass. We carefully cut the glass and assemble each decoration before firing it in the kiln for approximately 17 hours. The glass reaches around 800OC while it is in the kiln which allows the glass to fuse together and become polished, before it is carefully cooled down again. Every decoration is be completely unique since we are using art glass (every sheet of glass will be different) and can never guarantee how the shape and pattern will change during the firing process. The animal/bird decorations will have different expressions on their faces - see image.
